My Life in MMU
Immediately after I finished my SPM examination, all I think about is relax and enjoy until I get into a University. For the past 5 months, most of the time I spent in my home, online my Myspace account (yeah I still don’t have Facebook or Twitter), Yahoo Messenger, view friends blog, looking at my old pictures (ah, memories :D) and doing the house chores for sure :D . I also took licence for both car and motorcycle, spent time with my friends, came to school to help my teachers (can’t get away from that school :-p), playing football almost every evening at the field and went to primary and secondary school’s reunion (we’re getting “matured” from every single thing, if you know what I mean :-p). Then I got my SPM result, and I start to think what next? After a long discussion with my family members, thoughts of my teachers, and opinions from people around me from the day I got my SPM result until end of May, finally, I decided to take Foundation in Management at Melaka Campus of MULTIMEDIA UNIVERSITY :D.
It’s 30th of May. With all the stuff packed in the car + 8 people (including my family members, grandpa, grandma and my cousin), I said goodbye to my lovely home, and also to my cat (chicky, cheeky or ciki also can). From Setapak, Kuala Lumpur to Bukit Beruang, Melaka it took about 1 hour and 30 minutes(depends on what’s the car and who’s the driver). We took a quick rest at R&R Ayer Keroh because my little brother and sister were hungry. After half an hour there, we continued our journey to MMU Melaka. It already started to pack with cars as soon as we arrived at IPK Melaka where we’re just 5 minutes from MMU. As soon as my father’s car entered MMU gate, I’m getting nervous because there were many people around. I didn’t believe that I’m going to University. The feeling is just like the first time I step into primary school back ago. While my parents look out for a spot to park the car, I went to CLC Concourse to registered myself. After wait for a while at CLC, I was asked to go to Main Hall to continue my registration process. After an hour doing the registration process, I already become MMU student officially! :D Then I went to Ixora Apartment to registered for my accommodation. After packing my stuff in my room, my parents brought me to Melaka Megamall a.k.a Dataran Pahlawan to have our lunch. I also looked for things that I don’t have yet.
At 3.30 pm, I went back to the campus because we need to gathered at the President Square for a short briefing during Orientation Week. Then at 6.00 pm, we were allowed to go back. Then, I told my parents that my program for the day already finish. After that, we went for dinner. At 10 pm, my family went back to KL. Then I spent the rest of the night chatting with my new housemates. The next morning, we went to President Square at 7 am. After reciting prayers, sang MMU and Negaraku song, we had our breakfast at CLC according to group respectively.I’m in the yellow group (Hellow Yellow! :D) Then, we went to Main Hall for opening ceremony of Orientation Programme. After finished the opening ceremony, The Orientation Week officially begin. From Monday to Friday, we had a lot of briefings about MMU, the students, facilities, courses, buildings, and also we got a lot of new friends + free meals along the orientation week! :D On the Thursday night, we had the Cultural Night which was totally awesome! During the night, we got to see performances from the OC (orientation committee a.k.a facilitators) , the students from each Yellow, Blue, Red and Green team and also the cheers (the craziest moment) from us. Lastly we sang the “Here In My Home” song (that’s the title, if I not mistaken) and together, most of us hangout at a stall until early in the morning. On Friday morning, we registered for our course and subjects, to start our lesson beginning next week. :D
Well basically, based on our course and group, we have our own schedule. I have classes from Monday until Friday, mostly at 8a.m until 12p.m except Monday (just a class at 3p.m) We have to check the announcements from our lectures on the bulletin board, download the notes, tutorials, assignments and do the online quiz (yeah everything is on the line here :-p). Currently I’m just following the flow that is when it’s time for class, I go to class, when it’s time to eat, I eat, when it’s time to do assignments, I also do it. For this trimester, I took Accounting, Business Mathematics, Economics and English ( which is the main reason why I wrote this essay, hyper easy :-p). Our free time can be filled by having meal (this time we have to pay) at Plaza Siswa or the cafeteria besides Exam Hall, go to the library (you can use the computer freely or reading the newspaper etc.), watch a movie at Melaka Mall or Dataran Pahlawan or Mahkota Parade and even shopping at Mydin or Jusco Bukit Beruang. We usually went to Melaka Town by bus because it’s easier and cheaper. Besides Plaza Siswa, we can also eat variety of foods at Ixora Foodcourt, Abraar, MMU Corner, RSU, Kenang Selalu, D’Puteh, “Kuning” stall, Dima and Tash-Ma-Tash ( I really don’t know how we couldn’t eat here except when we have empty pocket). Frankly speaking, everything’s here in Melaka, we just have to use all this great things wisely (we’re here to study remember?)
For me, and for now, it’s great to be here in MMU Melaka (I wonder how’s Cyberjaya campus? :-p). University life is really different from high school. Here we have to do everything by our own, we have more freedom and more chances to involve in things that we like. But bear in mind guys, like I said before, the main objective, we’re here to study remember? Carefully limit our freedom, think twice or more when to do something, be friends with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and characters because it can help you broadens your mind and getting a lot of new experiences. Currently I’m trying to cope with this situation, getting used to it and hope all of us can survive in MMU. Do make beautiful memories here :D That’s all for now, sorry for all the mistakes in this essay on this blog (well, it’s my first time) and out! I’m sleepy! :D
